Kohima, Apr 11 : The polling in Nagaland for the lone seat for Lok Sabha and the by-election for the Aonglenden Assembly Constituency went on smoothly. while the polling percentage calculated at 04.00 PM was 73 per cent for the parliamentary seat.
In the four-cornered contest for the lone Parliamentary seat of Nagaland rose to 73 per cent at 04.00 PM and the overall polling were peaceful, barring some stray incidents.
According to sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer at Kohima the voters were still in the queue at various polling stations of the state and the voting percentage will go much higher.
For the by-elections in Aonglenden Assembly Constituency under Mokokchung district, where there was a straight fight between INC nominee Alemjongshi Longkumer and the People’s Democratic Alliance consensus candidate Sharingain Longkumer, the voting was approximately 83 per cent till 04.00 PM and polling was peaceful as per last report reaching in Kohima, sources said.
