The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has decided on Wednesday to stop production in two plants for two days.
Company officials decided to suspend production at its Gurugram and Manesar plants in Haryana. The company also said it would halt manufacturing operations at the two facilities on September 7 and 9. “Both days will be observed as no production days,” Maruti Suzuki officials said.
The automobile company reported a 36 per cent year-on-year drop in sales in August and it has reduced output by 34 per cent (y-o-y) during the month. Maruti had cut output by 25 per cent y-o-y in July while in June and May the cut was 15.6 per cent and 18 per cent y-o-y, respectively. The company had cut production by 10 per cent in April while in March, the cut was just under 21 per cent.
