Meghalaya registers one more COVID-19 case; total active cases 20

Shillong, Jun 7 : Meghalaya has registered one more positive case of Novel Coronavirus on Sunday, taking the state's active cases tally to 20, a health official informed. Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo Hek said the patient had recently returned to East Khasi Hills district from Maharashtra.

“The person is under quarantine in Shillong and will be shifted to COVID-19 hospital,” Hek informed. With this new detection, Meghalaya has so far recorded 34 cases, out of which 13 have fully recovered, one died and 20 are active and under treatment. Meanwhile, of the 10,343 swab samples tested so far in the state, 9980 were negative, while results of 330 were awaited and 741 were in institutional quarantine as on Saturday, a health official said.

On the other hand, 13,509 residents of Meghalaya, who were stranded in other parts of the country, entered the state as on Saturday evening. “Cumulatively 26,619 home visits were done by Health Workers to the entrants from outside Meghalaya till Saturday, including multiple visits,” the official said.
