Shillong, May 13 : Meghalaya now has only one COVID-19 positive case after a woman, who had tested positive for the fourth consecutive time for Novel Coronavirus, has tested negative for the virus in her sixth retest, health officials said on Wednesday.
“The 11th case was tested again after 24 hours. Her test has come out negative again. Based on protocols, the patient has recovered. Meghalaya as of now has only one active case”, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted late on Tuesday night. The woman is a family friend of Meghalaya’s first COVID-19 patient Dr. John L Sailo Rynthathiang, who succumbed to the virus. She was tested positive for the virus on April 15, while Dr. Sailo who tested positive on April 13, passed away on April 15. So far out of the 13 COVID-19 positive cases, which include one deceased, 10 have recovered and one case is still active that of a maid from the residence of the first COVID-19 victim in the State. The maid, who tested positive for the virus on Saturday, was one of the 181 primary contacts. However, a statement from the family of the first Covid-19 patient clarified that the latest positive case had nothing to do with the family.
“There was no contact between the latest case and any of the members of the family since April 15. Therefore, the contacts whom she has been exposed to from April 15 onwards cannot be accounted for,” it added. (UNI)
