NDFB militant killed in Meghalaya

Meghalaya police today gunned an Assam-based National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militant in an encounter this morning in East Garo Hills district.

Based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a mixed group comprising of NDFB militants and Garo miscreants numbering around 10, Special Weapons and Tactics commandos raided Tarasin village.“As the commandos were approaching the village when the group armed with Assault rifles and small arms fired upon them leading to a brief gun battle in which one militant was killed on the spot while the others managed to flee,” Superintendent of Police in-charge East Garo Hills district, Ringrang Momin said.

Momin said the slain militant has been identified as Koma Boro of the NDFB and police seized an AK rifle and a magazine from his possessionPolice suspected that the fleeing militants may have sustained bullet injuries going by the many blood trails at the site of the incident.
