Imphal, Jun 9 : Four persons have died due to malaria outbreak in the state. Out of four, three of them were reported at Okoklong village, Nungba Sub Division, Noney District, Manipur. One was reported from Churachandpur district. Health officials said at least three individuals namely, Nchamthailiu Rongmei 14, Gaichungreiliu Rongmei 39 and Kaniamgailiu Rongmei 21 who was two months pregnant had succumbed to acute Malaria on June 4, June 8 and June 9 respectively at Noney.
The people of the area have also requested for fogging and supply of anti-malarial medicine and Malaria Testing kit . Meanwhile, state malaria official informed within two weeks period eleven cases and 4 deaths were reported. Most of the health workers in malaria department were busy working in the fight against Covid 19. In spite of the shortage of staff the government has started works to control the outbreak. (UNI)
