Kolkata, May 16: The Manipur Government has recalled its 185 trained nurses with immediate effect from Bengal. The decision has left the state with shortages of trained medical staff at a time when most of the hospitals, both government and private, are facing scarcity of logistics and manpower to cope with novel coronavirus. Manipur Government's Home department in a notification, signed by Joint Secretary Rehanuddin Chaudhury, has asked its 185 nurses and 133 other persons now in Bengal to return to Imphal by buses.
The notification said the buses would enter Imphal through Mao Gate between 6 am to 12 am and drop the passengers at Imphal and return to its original starting points. A latest report said 25 nurses from Peerless Hospital, ten from R N Tagore Hospital, three from Medica, 16 from Fortis, 27 from Charnock Hospital, ten from Apollo, six from Ruby Hospital and three from Belle Cue have quit the service after the Manipur Government notification asking them to return home.(UNI)
