Imphal,May 30 : Minister, CAF & PD, Revenue, Shri Karam Shyam today said players maintain strict discipline and sound health by consuming healthy food and staying away from the menace of drugs.
In this way, they contribute to the overall betterment of the State by helping in upliftment of the society.
He was speaking as Chief Guest at the inaugural function of the first L.Brojeshori Memorial Cash Prize State Level Judo Championship held at the indoor stadium of Khuman Lampak tl.
The event was organized by the Manipur Judo Association in collaboration with the Lourembam Brojeshori Memorial Trust.
Sports and Arts and Culture are two fields that need to be nurtured and promoted at the grassroot level. The concerned Ministers should take responsibility and suggest effective policies to the Government so that appropriate measures be taken up to clear loopholes and redress the grievances of the players in connection with their required facilities and employability, he further stated.
Highlighting a brief life history of judo Olympian L.Brojeshori and her achievements, Minister Karam Shyam also added that she has always been an epitome of pride for the state by being the second female judo Olympian of the country after Sangeeta Mehta.
In his presidential address, President of the Manipur Judo Association, Dr.Kh.Ratankumar Singh stated that we can seek inspiration from the life history of L.Brojeshori as she had a strong will power and spirit of sacrifice.
Secretary, Manipur Judo Association, Shri S Indrakumar gave a brief picture of the biography of L.Brojeshori during the function.
Dignitaries, relatives and invites paid floral tributes to the photo of Manipurs Judo Olympian L.Brojeshori.
It may be mentioned that L.Brojeshori represented India in the 2000 Seoul Olympics and stood 9th position after entering the second round.
Special invitees, youths and sports lovers of the State took part in the event.
