Thane, Jun 9 : A Shiv Sena Corporator from the Mira Bhayandar civic body has succumbed to the COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a hospital here, party sources informed on Tuesday. He was 55.

Having four consecutive wins as a Corporator, the deceased was also the party leader in the civic body. He was proactively reaching out to the needy and helping them during the lockdown, said a Sena spokesperson. The spokesman added that it is believed that the corporator might have contracted the virus while he was out meeting and helping people out in their hour of need, which he was doing frequently, adding that he tested positive for corona nearly a week back. Subsequently, he along with his mother, wife and son were hospitalized.

However, he was kept on a ventilator and breathed his last on Tuesday morning, a day before his birthday on June 10. His family members have been cured of the virus and discharged from the hospital, the spokesman added. Mourning the demise of his peer, Owala-Majiwada legislator and senior party leader Pratap Sarnaik remarked that his death is a great loss to the party. (UNI)
