Thane, June 8 : A 55-year-old doctor has succumbed to COVID-19 after battling with the pandemic for the past four days at a hospital here, informed Wagle Estate Doctors Association(WEDA) President Dr J B Bhor. The deceased was a general practitioner from the Raghunath Nagar of Wagle Estate. Having an experience of more than 20 years, he was also the WEDA Vice President.
This is the second pandemic fatality in the city's doctor fraternity as a 85-year-old doctor passed away due to the disease more than a month back. Indian Medical Association President Dr Dinkar Desai stated that the doctors were risking their lives treating the COVID-19 patients. He further said that around 30 Thane doctors have been infected till now while six of them are still in hospitals, and added that some of them are reported to be in critical condition. (UNI)
