Thane, Jun 7 : As many as 124 new COVID-19 cases, including a nurse from the civic-run KEM Hospital and senior Congress Corporator, were detected in this city on Saturday, informed Thane Municipal Corporation(TMC) Dy Commissioner Sandeep Malavi on Sunday.
Mr Malavi, also the TMC spokesman, stated that the administration has heaved a sigh of relief as no fatalities were reported on Saturday. So far, 113 people from the city have succumbed to the contagion while the tally of confirmed cases stands at 3,919.
He further said a total of 2,056 patients, out of the above-mentioned count, have been cured, improving the recovery rate to 52.46 per cent in Thane, which has been witnessing a surge in the pandemic cases. The district's tally of the infections has swelled to 10,882 after 463 new cases were found on Saturday while the death count increased to 352, with ten new deaths.
Meanwhile, the distant Palghar district has recorded 1,207 cases, including 39 fatalities, apprised report. (UNI)
