Jalgaon, Jun 5 : Heavy rains, brought on by the cyclone Nisarga, have claimed lives and left a trail of destruction in rural parts of the district. A farmer in Amalner taluka, Rajendra Waman Koli, was killed on Wednesday evening when a tree fell on him due to gusty winds that accompanied the cyclone, Also, two animals were killed and two others were injured due to cyclone in Chopda taluka of the district.. Apart from that, the cyclone has damaged a few houses in Raver, Chopda and Pachora talukas of the district, besides partially damaging the banana crop.
A preliminary report, received from the local tehsildar, mentioned that the crops were damaged, said deputy collector Rahul Patil. The report has been submitted by the district administration to the divisional commissioner for further action, he added. (UNI)
