Thane, Jun 03 : To meet any eventuality during the Nisarga cyclone one more company of the NDRF team has been rushed to Thane district from Nagpur. The chief of the RDMC of the TMC Santosh Kadam said one company of NDRF is already stationed in the district at Uttan coast at Bhayander, where there are several fishing families staying.
Meanwhile, all the 577 fishing boats that had gone out on fishing have now returned to Palghar, IMD authorities stated. The district authorities took the assistance of the Coast Guards, Fisheries department, and the naval department to get back these boats before the critical period of the onset of the cyclone on Wednesday. More than 15,000 people residing in the shores and low lying areas and kutcha houses have been evacuated in the talukas of Dahanu, Palghar, Vasai, Talasari and shifted to safer places. Two companies of the NDRF have already been stationed in the neighbouring district, Palghar to meet any eventuality.
Palghar Collector, Dr Kailas Shinde and his Thane counterpart Rajesh Narvekar have issued prohibitory orders and banned boats going out for fishing and the movement of people near the banks and shores. "This order will remain in force till June 04," he said. The NDRF Commandant Rajendra Patil said that in addition to this one team of SDRF and TDRF is already stationed at Thane, he added. (UNI)
