Mumbai, Jun 2 : Extending rally for the fifth straight session on Tuesday, the BSE sensex spurted 522.01 points to 33,825.53, on strong global cues. Reassurance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address to India Inc at the CII's 125th annual session, that India will return to growth, boosted the sentiment further.
The Nifty of The National Stock Exchange too rose 152.95 points to 9,979.10. The Nifty registered day's high and low at 9,995.60 and 9,824.05 respectively. The Sensex moved up 147 pts to open at 33,450.19. During the day, it edged up nearly 563 points to 33,866.63 days high. Finally, it finished at 33,825.53, advancing by 522.01 points from its last close. It registered a day's low at 33,301.29, fell by 29 points.
The indices that kept the market strong were Realty, Bankex, Finance, Consumer Durable and Industrials. The scrips , Bajaj Finance, the star gainer for another day went up 8.33 percent, followed by Kotak Bank, Indusind Bank, HDFC and Axis Bank. The Mid cap rose by 1.20 pc and Small Cap by 1.83 percent. In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while seven declined. World stocks were seen strong, three-month highs as the global coronavirus recovery effort won out over US-China tensions and the worst civil unrest in the United States in decades. More (UNI)
