Nashik, May 27 : Forty-eight people tested positive for Novel Coronavirus in a single day, swelling the district's tally of infected patients to 1,058. The swab sample report of 204 suspected cases was received on Wednesday evening, out of which 199 came out negative, while 48 tested positive, the latest report released by district administration said here. Of total positive cases, 10 were from Nashik city, 14 from rural parts of district, 23 from Malegaon and one outsider. Meanwhile, three more COVID patients died of the disease, taking the toll in the district to 60.
Among them, one each were from Nashik city, Malegaon and district non-native. With the detection of 10 new cases in Nashik city, the overall number of infected patients went up to 138, while the toll went up to eight, after one more death was reported in Nashik city. Malegaon, which had not reported any new positive cases in the past two days, suddenly witnessed 17 new positive cases. Among them were six police personnel, taking the tally of infected cases to 715 in Malegaon.
With one falling victim to the disease, the toll in the town climbed to 47. Also, 14 new Coronavirus cases tested positive in the rural parts of the district, Among them, five were from Sinner, six from Yeola and one from Lasalgaon in Niphad taluka and two from Malegaon rural. Of 1,058 infected cases witnessed in the district till date, 138 were in Nashik city, 157 in rural parts of district, 715 in Malegaon and 48 were from out of the district. Of 60 casualties witnessed in the district till date, three were detected in rural parts of district, eight in Nashik city, 47 in Malegaon and two from district non-natives. While 739 patients have been recovered and discharged, 259 cases were still active in the district, the report added. (UNI)
