Kolhapur, May 27 : A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting money from a person embroiled in a police case on the pretext of saving him from the legal clutches, informed Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Vishal Hanchnale, a resident of Nandgaon in Karveer tehsil. According to the ACB, the accused demanded Rs 30,000 from a 28-year-old man who has a criminal case registered against him with the Ispurli Police Station.

The accused Vishal told the man that since he has cordial relations with the Sub-inspector of the Police Station, he can help the offender in clearing off his name from the case. But, the price for doing so will be Rs 30,000, he added. Not falling into Vishal's trap, the man filed a complaint and subsequently, the fraudster was trapped while taking the money, the ACB added.
