Akola, May 26 : Akola has become the second hottest city in the country with the 47.4 degree Celsius temperature. According to IMD, Akola was the hottest location in the Maharashtra state and the second hottest in India on Monday as heatwave conditions gripped the city and surrounding areas of the Vidarbha region.
This has been the season's highest temperature ever recorded in the city in the month of May. The temperature is soaring in many parts of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra since past few days. Akola's temperature has been consistently between 42-45 degree Celsius since fortnight. However, the sudden rise to 47.4 degree Celsius has shocked residents. Due to lockdown people are mostly indoors. There has been no reports of sunstroke in the city. An orange alert (be prepared) for heatwave conditions has been issued for all districts in Vidarbha till May 27. (UNI)
