Mumbai, May 26 : A driver of the Mumbai Fire Brigade Department, who died two days ago, is now being suspected to be a COVID-19 fatality, sources said on Tuesday.
The driver, who was attached with the Gowalia tank fire station, was on leave from May 16 as he had typhoid. According to reports, he was taken to the state-run J J Hospital on May 23 following bouts of diarrhoea and fever. The doctors refused him admission and sent him home after prescribing medicines.
As he had high fever the next day, the relatives again rushed him to J J where he was put on oxygen support but passed away within hours. If the medical report confirms him to be Corona positive, he will be the first pandemic fatality from the city's Fire Brigade Department. (UNI)
