22 fresh corona cases found in Nashik

Nashik, May 23 : With addition to 22 fresh corona cases in Nashik on Saturday, the tally of infected patients in the district rose to 924. While, one patient succumbed to the disease today. Of 149 swab samples examined, 127 were negative while 22 tested positive, including 1 dead. Of the new cases, 10 were from rural parts of the district, 4 from Malegaon and 12 from Nashik city, including 1 casualty, the latest report released by the district administration said.

The Nashik city, which was heading towards the Green Zone last week, suddenly witnessed the upsurge in corona cases from the last 2 days. Today 8 new positive cases were detected in Nashik city, following the death of a 54-year-old man who succumbed to the disease on Friday but his test result came positive today.

The deceased, a resident of Samta Nagar Takli Nashik, who was also suffering from diabetes and heart problems, was admitted to the District Hospital in a very critical condition yesterday morning. As he was having trouble breathing during admission, his throat samples were taken for examination. Despite being treated by a team of expert doctors from the district hospital, the patient did not respond to treatment and died within an hour that day. His swab report, received today, confirmed that he was infected with corona.

Meanwhile, in the rural parts of the district, 10 patients were confirmed positive for coronavirus, among which were 3 each in Sinner and Niphad taluka 2 in Manmad and one each in Yeola and Chandwad taluka, pushing the tally of infected patients in these areas to 121. Malegaon saw 4 such new patients, swelling the tally of corona infected cases to 689. Of 924 corona infected cases witnessed in the district till date, 75 were from Nashik city, 121 from rural parts of district, 689 from Malegaon and 39 district non-natives, including 47 casualties. Of total casualties, 4 were in Nashik city and 43 in Malegaon. While, 673 patients have been recovered and discharged. Now, there are 204 active cases in the district, the report added. (UNI)
