Thane, May 22 : The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has from Friday stopped testing of the COVID-19 cases at the Thyrocare lab, approved by the ICMR, due to its alleged lapses in the testing of swabs, an official release by the TMC stated. In an official release, the Corporation said that it took the decision due to the unsatisfactory COVID testing facility in Thyrocare Lab.
The release also said that Municipal commissioner Vijay Singhal has banned the testing of swab samples of suspected patients for COVID-19 in this lab. The commissioner took this decision after finding incorrect reports in 6 cases. In Thane city, Covid-19 is detected with the primary symptoms of suspected patients. The Thyrocare lab was declared in ICMR’s official laboratory list, but in Thane Municipal Corporation area, it was found that there were erroneous reports in 6 cases given by the laboratory. This caused many patients to go through social and psychiatric disorders.
Therefore, Mr Singhal has ordered the lab not to carry out swab sample tests of any Covid-19 suspects in Thane Municipal Corporation area from May 22 onwards. (UNI)
