Mumbai, May 23 : A total of 407 cyber crimes have been registered in the state and 214 people have been arrested during lockdown, Maharashtra Cyber Division said on Saturday. Regarding malpractices on TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and other social media, a total of 407 crimes (out of which 22 are NC) have been registered in various police stations in the state of Maharashtra till May 22.
An analysis of all these crimes by Maharashtra Cyber Division revealed that 171 cases have been registered for forwarding offensive WhatsApp messages, 162 cases for sharing offensive Facebook posts, 19 cases for sharing tik tok videos and as many cases for Twitter. There have been 7 cases of offensive tweets, 4 cases of making incorrect posts on Instagram, while 44 cases of misuse of other social media (audio clips, You tube) have been registered. Of these, 102 objectionable posts have been taken down, they added. (UNI)
