Aurangabad reports six new Covid-19 cases; dist toll crosses 1k

Agency News

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), May 21 : Six new Covid-19 cases were detected here on Thursday taking the district's pandemic tally to 1,179, stated Government Medical College and Hospital(GMCH) sources.

These new patients have been found a day after two patients succumbed to the pandemic while undergoing treatment at the GMCH. So far, 41 persons have died due to the contagion. The six infected individuals have been found from the localities of Maqsood Colony, N-5 CIDCO, N-7 CIDCO, Pisadevi, Ram Nagar and Dhangarwadi. The steady spurt in the pandemic cases has worried the administration and citizens equally. In a bid to prevent further spread of the disease, all activities, except medical shops, were suspended since May 17.

Considering the woes of citizens, it was later decided that the essentials shops will be permitted to open between 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs from May 21 onwards. The silver lining is that out of the total tally, 451 persons have been given discharge after being cured.(UNI)
