ASI, constable succumb to Covid-19 in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 21 : An Assistant Sub-inspector(ASI) and a constable have succumbed to the Covid-19 here, Mumbai Police said. With this, the number of city cops passing away due to the contagion stands at 11. The duo deceased have been identified as ASI Bhivsen Pingle (53) and constable Chaudhary (57). Both were sent on mandatory leaves after Police Commissioner Parambir Singh had announced that personnel in high-risk age groups were to stay at home.

On May 6, late Pingle, who was attached to Sahar traffic division, tested positive for the disease while he breathed his last on Wednesday. He had a medical history of diabetes and hypertension.

Similarly, constable Chaudhary, who was attached to the Parksite Police Station, started showing Covid-19 symptoms five days ago after which he was admitted to the Guru Nanak Hospital. Later, he was shifted to SevenHills Hospital, where he passed away. (UNI)
