Lockdown: CISF, CRPF reinforcement comes to aid of Mumbai police

Mumbai, May 19: Five companies of the CISF and CRPF have been deployed at specific zones in this metropolitan to lend a helping hand to the over burdened police, stated Mumbai Police spokesman on Tuesday.

They are now manning Colaba to Marine Drive (Zone 1), Tardeo, Nagpada, Worli to NM Joshi Marg (Zone 3), Dharavi to Dadar (Zone 5), Chembur to Mankhurd (Zone 6) and Bandra to Amboli (Zone 9).

These additional forces came here on Monday over the Maharashtra government's request to the Centre stating that the city police is overburdened owing to the COVID-19 crisis. The state police has also lost sleuths to the pandemic while hundreds of other personnel have contracted the contagion.

After which, it was mandated that the quinquagenarian cops will not be posted in the containment zones since the deceased were in their fifties. (UNI)
