Kolhapur, May 17: As many as 14,956 migrant labourers, who were stuck here due to the coronavirus lockdown, were ferried to their native states in the Sharmik Express from Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj terminus here on Sunday.
"These migrants are being taken to four different states i e Uttar Pradesh-9,616, Bihar-2,776, Rajasthan-1,477 and Madhya Pradesh-1,066," an official release informed. According to district information office release, an 11th special train with 1,456 labourers have left fof Baliya in Uttar Pradesh late Saturday night. After approval from the UP government, the district administration brought all the stranded workers from Ichalkaranji by ST bus to the railway station after sanitising and providing food and water to them while strictly following the physical distance guidelines.
