Three in police custody for forging, selling lockdown travel pass in Thane

Thane, May 12: Three persons, including a woman, have been sent into police custody till May 15 for allegedly forging lockdown travel passes, and subsequently selling them, Navi Mumbai Police said on Tuesday.

The three were identified as woman Maruti Rathod (21), Javed Shaikh (28) and Salim Shaikh (42). The crime came to fore when these fake passes were presented by some travellers wanting to travel to Jalna, police told, adding that upon cross-checking with the District Collectorate, no records were found for these passes. In subsequent investigation, the trio was traced in Karanjade locality of Panvel. During the raid, four fake passes as well as mobile phones worth Rs 32,000 were seized. (UNI)
