Thane, May 8: With addition of 64 COVID-19 positive cases in a single-day on Thursday, the count of infected patients in the city reached 560, a report from the Thane Municipal Corporation stated. Among those who were tested positive on Thursday included a lady police constable from the Thane City police control room, children aged from 6 months to teenagers and an 83-year-old person. It was not immediately known as to how many from the control room were quarantined or whether the commissioner office was sealed by the authorities.

The Lokmanya-Savarkar Nagar recorded the maximum of 141 cases, followed by Wagle Estate96. Meanwhile, consequent upon the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital at Kalwa releasing two bodies before the COVID-19 tests, which subsequently turned out to be positive for Coronavirus, Municipal commissioner Vijay Singhal today issued detailed orders on the methods to be followed while handling the cases of deaths and the bodies. Acting chief of the hospital has been replaced and the hospital was issued a show-cause notice after a hue and cry over the entire episode. (UNI)
