Thane, May 6: A delegation of the BJP leaders, led by Pravin Darekar, on Tuesday met the Thane police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and demanded action against the people who post derogatory matter on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis.
Other members of the delegation included BJP's Mumbai city president and MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MLA Sanjay Kelkar and Thane city president and MLA Niranjan Vasant Davkhare. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and other BJP leaders are being slandered on social media," Darekar, who is Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, said and alleged that paid gangs are being started with political blessings.
An official statement by BJP Thane region office here stated that they also submitted a memorandum to the police chief demanding an end to police brutality and action against defamatory miscreants. In case of a crisis, care should be taken not to disturb the environment through social media. (UNI)
