Nashik, May 4 : Nine more people, including seven police personnel from Malegaon, tested positive for deadly coronavirus on Monday taking the tally of total infected cases in the district to 371. The swab reports of 49 suspected patients received today, of them 8 from Malegaon (including 7 police personnel and one private citizen) and another from Nashik city were confirmed positive while 40 tested negative, an official report issued by the district civil hospital said here. Out of 371 corona cases identified in the district till date, 331 were in Malegaon, 17 each from Nashik city and other talukas of the district and 6 from other districts, including 12 casualties (all in Malegaon) and 25 recoveries.
With detection of a positive case from General Vaidya Nagar here, the number of infected patients in the city has climbed up to 17. Whereas in Malegaon, after identification of 7 corona cases among police personnel, the count of total infected police personnel in the town has reached 66. Meanwhile, the district administration today declared six tehsils, including Nashik corporation area, as Red Zone. The areas that fall under red zone include Nashik Corporation area, Deolali Cantonment, Yeoloa, Nandgaon, Sinnar, Malegaon and Nifad. The movement of the citizens in these areas has been totally restricted, the report added. (UNI)
