Palghar, Apr 28 : Palghar Collector Kailas Shinde on Tuesday laid down stringent rules, including fines, to deter those flouting the lockdown norms. In an order promulgated by him, the Collector affirmed that the first-time violators will be fined whereas in the second instance, the offender will be prosecuted. He has asked the officials concerned to penalize those found spitting in public domain, not covering their faces as well as those observing slackness in regards of social distancing.
The offenses of spitting and not using face masks will attract fines of Rs 500 and Rs 200, respectively whereas Rs 200 will be exacted from the customers not standing three feet apart from each other at shops. If the shopkeepers are found turning a blind eye to the norm, they will be slapped with a hefty penalty of Rs 2,000, the order said. In a bid to curb profiteering, it has also been mandated that the vendors will also be fined Rs 2,000, if they fail to display the rates of groceries and other essentials. (UNI)
