COVID-19: 1,200 quarantined in Nagpur, Maharashtra

Nagpur, Apr 28: Taking serious cognisance of the rising number of cases in Satranjipura area , at least 1,200 persons were quarantined here, sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the quarantined people had come in contact with the person who was earlier tested positive for coronavirus in Satranjipura area of the city. The sources further said that samples of around 200 people, who were in touch with the deceased patient, were collected and 80 of them turned out to be infected and hence 1,200 people were quarantined on Monday, sources further said. Unfortunately, the residents of Satranjipura were hiding the information from the administration and no one was coming forward to provide the details.

Subsequently, the Satranjipura area in the city has been declared as a hotspot. Till Monday, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in Nagpur has risen to 129 , out of which 31 have so far recovered and have been discharged while one death toll was reported from the city. Meanwhile, police have come up with aerial survelliance plan to intensify vigil in the containment areas and for that drones would be used, they added. (UNI)
