Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 23: To fight the deadly Coronavirus, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) had launched a door-to-door survey last month and till date 139 suspects have been found, sources said here.
More than 300 teams approached the 15 ,46,356 citizens living in 3 ,44,73 houses. The survey, conducted with the help of Anganwadi workers and AMC teachers, initially had to face strong opposition from the citizens, especially from Naregaon, Aaref Colony, Jalal Colony in the city, but later got co-operation. Since the second week of March, the fear of Coronavirus was haunting the health department of the AMC.
As many as 1,259 people had entered in the city from outside districts. Thousands of people were entering the city everyday despite imposition of lockdown in the entire district. Most of the citizens were from neighbouring districts of Ahmednagar and Jalna. Till date 1, 95,834 passengers have been screened in different screening centres, they added.
As per government norms Aurangabad is in Red Zone as hotspot of Corona. So far, 38 Corona positive patients have been identified in the city of them five fatalities were reported. A total of 16 have been cured and currently 17 are under treatment, it added. (UNI)
