Thane, Apr 3: With six more members of the BSF stationed at Kharghar testing positive for the virus, the total number of such cases of the 'jawans' rose to 11 on Friday.
In an official statement issued here, the Konkan Divisional Commissioner Shivajirao Daund said that out of 139 officials and 12 employees serving them, five 'jawans' tested positive earlier. On Thursday night, Daund had ordered that 146 officials/jawans should be kept in the quarantine ward of the MGM Hospital. When the test on them was carried out it was revealed that six of them were COVID-19 positive.
The statement also said that due to the isolation of the BSF officials/jawans, the further hazard has been averted. Two independent wings have been prepared for them at the MGM hospital and all the facilities needed for them have been provided there itself and trained medical officials are attending on them. The timely action of the divisional commissioner has averted a threat to the citizens of Navi Mumbai, it was stated. Instructions have been issued by Daund that in case any patient is found to be COVID-19 positive then the concerned administration should take note of the same and act. (UNI)
