Absconding MCOCA accused held after 11 days

Kolhapur, Mar 15 : A runaway Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) accused Shreedhar Arjun Shingate was arrested here on Sunday. According to Ajara police, on received a tip that accused Shingate was hiding at House of his colleagues in Sirsingi village, police teams, which were engaged in search operation from last eleven days, rushed to Sirsingi village in the wee hours today and arrested him.

The accused was earlier arrested on February 26, 2019, for committing several serious crimes related to liquor smuggling and ransoms. On March 5, police brought him to produce in the magisterial court in Gadhinglaj regarding the next date. In the court premises, the accused demanded breakfast and requested to remove handcuffs.

After finishing his meal he went to the cash-counter on the pretext of paying the bill and ran off. After that incident, three police cops including an assistant head-constable, constable and a woman constable for the negligence of duty. (UNI)
