Kolhapur, Feb 22 : The Maharashtra government is considering to give more rights to Panchayat Samities in the state, making them stronger, state rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif said here on Saturday.
In an inaugural function of sports competition of officers and employees of Zilla Parishad, Rural Development Minister said the government was contemplating to give more rights to Panchayat Samities making them more competent and more strong for the development of the rural areas. Mr Mushrif said that Panchayat Raj system has decentralised the rights on Zilla Parishad, Panchayat samiti and Grampanchayats level, to make opportunity of revolution in rural areas.
The state government was also considering to give more funds for development works in rural areas through the 15th finance commission, he further said. Other prominent leaders who attended the function were Dharysheel Mane, MP, Bajrang Patil, ZP president, Satish Patil, ZP vice-president, Rituraj Patil, MLA, Daulat Desai, district collector, Aman Mittal ZP CEO and others.
