Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Feb 22 : The Congress on Saturday expressed confidence that the party was capable of contesting in all 115 wards in the upcoming Aurangabad municipal polls if it fails to enter an alliance with the Shiv Sena and NCP.
Addressing mediapersons at Gandhibhavan here, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Working President Muzaffar Hussain said, "The Congress is capable and ready to contest in all 115 wards in the muncipal polls if coalition parties are not ready to form an alliance."
He further said that the preparations are in full-swing in this regard as the local body polls are scheduled in the month of April. "The party workers and office bearers are discussing the issues of garbage, tax collection, water supply and road infrastructure to be included in the manifesto," he said adding that the poll strategy is also being chalked out.
He also talked about the Congress' apprehension regarding tweaking of the contesting categories of several wards, and stated that a formal complaint will be made with the Election Commission of India. (UNI)
