Pune, Feb 12 : Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate 10th fourday Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Students’ Parliament) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on February 20. Thousands of politically active and socially sensitive students from all over India will be taking part in this conclave. This movement was initiated under Rahul Karad, executive president, MIT World Peace University.
The platform is absolutely apolitical and does not engage in any mainstream party politics, an MIT release said here on Wednesday. The Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly P Sreeramakrishnan will be conferred the ‘Ideal Legislative Assembly Speaker Award’ at inaugural session of the event. Besides Sreeramakrishnan, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, eminent Computer scientist Dr Vijay P Bhatkar and eminent Sitar player Pandit Niladri Kumar will be present at the inaugural function.
This national conclave is organised annually by Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation with support of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Association of Indian Universities and the UNESCO Chair of Human Rights, Democracy, Peace & Tolerance, Pune, the release said. The United Nations, SAARC, Inter-Parliamentary Union and Commonwealth have also extended their support to this conclave, the release added. (UNI)
