Mumbai, Feb 12 : Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced that the government employees will have a five-day working week. The decision was taken in a weekly cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The resolution will be implemented from February 29 onwards. Post implementation, the government employees will have an extra 45 minutes added to their work time, which would add up to 3.75 additional working hours per week.
The emergency services will also be excluded from the new working program. The policy is aimed at increasing the productivity and efficiency of the employees as well as reducing absenteeism. (UNI)
