Thane, Feb 3: A 40-year-old man from Kalyan town of the district has been arrested by the police for allegedly attempting to break into a bank, police said on Monday.
An offence under sections 454 and 511 of Indian Penal Code has been registered with the Khadakpada police station on Sunday evening. According to the complaint filed by senior manager of Vijaya Bank (Bank of Baroda) Mohane branch, some bank officers had on Sunday come to the bank to clear the pending work and they heard the noise of someone breaking the wall.
Upon checking, they found the accused was trying to break open the roof of the bank building with accessories. Immediately, he was brought down and handed over to the police, who seized the accessories used for the break-in from him, police said.
The arrested accused, who had failed in a diploma course some time back, was currently jobless. The local Khadakpada police are carrying out further probe into the crime, it was stated. (UNI)
