Mumbai, Jan 20: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday said that the nightlife initiative by Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray will not be implemented across the city for a moment as the police are already overburdened and they cannot take additional job in the given circumstances.
He told mediapersons that the state home department was not in favour of launching such an initiative in the city and suburbs largely due to security reasons.
"It can be initially launched in malls, restaurants in non-residential areas and malls situated in Nariman Point, Bandra Kurla Complex and Lower Parel. However, restaurants won't be able to serve liquor," he said.
He reiterated that permit rooms and bars will be excluded from the 24x7 nightlife initiative in and around the residential areas and malls and restaurants in mill lands. (UNI)
