Thane, Dec 1: The Navi Mumbai police Central Crime Unit Officials have arrested three persons in connection with the kidnap and brutal killing of a Nerul man disposing of his body the police said today.

Sr PI of the Central Crime Unit NB Kolhatkar today told this correspondent that the main accused in the heinous crime and the notorious criminal Vicky Deshmukh was at large and the police have launched a manhunt for him. The police suspect that there might be at least four to five more persons involved in the chilling murder.

Police said that it was on September 14, 2019 the Nerul police received a complaint of the missing of the victim Sachin Sarjerao Garje, 32. While carrying out the probe into the same the police got information that he was kidnapped by the gang of notorious criminal Vicky Deshmukh and men and hence the police converted the case into one under section 364 w 34 and registered the offence on November 14, 2019 and initiated a probe into the same.

During the probe with the help of the informants and the technical inputs the police arrested the three accused whose names were given as Vikrant Koli, 22, Panvel, Narayan Pavle, 27, Navi Mumbai and Roopesh Zirale, 37, Panvel.

During the interrogation of the arrested trio, the police gathered that on the directions of the notorious criminal Deshmukh the arrested accused and others kidnapped the victim from Seawood Grand Central Mall and killed him and threw his body in the sea. After some days when the body came on the surface they took it out and buried it in the ground and then later exhumed it and took it to the hilly region at Karnala of Panvel and burnt it the police said.

The police are presently probing and verifying the versions and on the lookout for the main accused in the case while the three arrested have been remanded into police custody till December 02, 2019 the police said.

A police officer said that the victim was also involved in the crimes and one of the gang members and the details are being gathered the police said. (UNI)
