World needs message of peace: Dalai Lama

Aurangabad, Maharashtra,Nov 24 : Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Sunday appealed the people to spread the message of love, harmony and peace across the world while relating Buddhism in Tibet and Nalanda school of thoughts.

The Indian culture and the religious harmony from thousands of years is an example for the whole world. The solution of all the problems lies in the teachings of Lord Buddha and his message of peace, he said.

The Dalai Lama was speaking at the valedictory function of three-days Global Buddhist Congregation (GBC) in Aurangabad today. Addressing the gathering, the spiritual guru said that principles of Buddhism teach compassion and harmony in the world. He added that teachings of Gautam Buddha are for the entire mankind from 2500 years. A monk is groomed after intense academic study of 30 years, the Buddhist guru said.

Quoting the Gautam Buddha, he said that the way to reach supreme place in Buddhism is nothing but to study and introspection.

The Dalai Lama said that scientists are also doing research in the religious beliefs now days and encouraged the people to be the Buddha of 21st century.

He emphasized the need of practicing the Buddhism instead of just having the knowledge of it. During the last three days thousands of Upasak and Upasika (Devotees) and monks across from the numbers of monks and buddhist sputural gurus including Sri Lanka, South Korea, Bhutan, Thailand, Combodia among others.

Valedictory function will be held by this evening after rest of the events completed later in a day, said sources. (UNI)
