Top sources said that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has refused to go back to Sharad Pawar camp.
It is learnt that Ajit Pawar is still reluctant to rethink his decision to join hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and become the deputy chief minister. While expressing his mind in the meeting with the NCP mediators Jayant Patil and Dilip Walse Patil, the Maharashtra deputy chief minister also told that tie-up with the BJP was in the NCP's interests. NCP sharing power with the BJP is in its better interest is the view of Ajit Pawar.
Earlier there was a rumour that Ajit Pawar may resign on Sunday in the light of Supreme Court order and many of NCP MLAs who went with him have also returned with party supremo Sharad Pawar. But it is learnt that Ajit Pawar expects the support of NCP MLAs in case of a floor test.
Earlier in the day, The Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre and Maharashtra government on a petition filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine against the Maharashtra Governor's decision to swear in Devendra Fadnavis as chief minister and Ajit Pawar as the BJP leader's deputy. A bench of Justices NV Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna also issued notices to Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The bench also asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to produce letters of the Governor tomorrow at 10.30 am for passing orders.
