Kolhapur, Nov 17: Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) commissioner Mallinath Kalshetty disqualified Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) member and former deputy mayor Shama Salim Mulla from elected membership of KMC as she remained absent for KMC meetings for the last six months.
Mr Kalashetty on Saturday night ordered her disqualification.
Ms Mulla could not attend KMC general meetings for the last six months as she was in jail and as per Maharashtra State Corporation Act if an elected member remains absent for continued six months then he/she could be disqualified from the membership. On this ground, Mr Kalshetty took this action as per guidance of state's justice department.
Ms Mulla, was involved in attack incident on trainee assistant SP Aishwarya Sharma and her team when she raided the NCP member and her husband's Matka den on April 8. The Police arrested all 44 persons including the Mulla couple under MOCCA and detained them in Kalamba district jail. (UNI)
