Ajit Pawar elected NCP party leader in Mah Assy

Mumbai, Oct 30 : Senior NCP leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was unanimously elected as the leader of the party in Maharashtra Legislature, here on Wednesday.

He was elected in the presence of party chief Sharad Pawar in a meeting of the newly-elected legislators of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) held at Vidhan Bhavan, state party president Jayant Patil said.

After being elected as party leader in the state Legislature, the former deputy chief minister thanked the party legislators and assured them that he would be aggressive on issues like unemployment and agrarian crisis.

NCP had won 54 seats in the October 21 Assembly elections, while its ally Congress got 44. (UNI)
