Jalgaon, Oct 28 : Senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse on Monday made a serious allegation against his party, saying that "unseen powers" in the saffron party supported the Shiv Sena rebel candidates, who emerged victorious in Raver and Muktainagar seats.
In the Raver seat, sitting MLA Haribhau Jawale was ousted by Anil Chaudhari, whereas in Muktainagar seat, Chandrakant Patil defeated Mr Khadse's daughter Rohini. The former minister averred, "There was no corruption allegations against Haribhau, but there were some invisible forces in the party behind Chaudhari. He got more than 44,000 votes against Haribhau.'
Talking further, he said that the BJP claimed of winning 40 seats in north Maharashtra, but secured just 21. 'BJP's strength has declined in this district. It's a matter of concern for the party as we were hit by anti-incumbency," he added.
Commenting on the defeat of his daughter, Mr Khadse said, "I told the party not to nominate Rohini. In this regard, I would like to point it out to my senior leaders." (UNI)
