Thane, Oct 27 : The BJP rebel candidate Geeta Jain, who contested as an independent and won the Mira-Bhayander seat in the just-concluded assembly polls, on Sunday met the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) chief and sitting MLA Hitendra Thakur and held discussions for more than two hours.
The meet, termed as a "courtesy call" by Ms Jain, was also attended by Mr Thakur's son Kshitij, also an MLA.
Adorably referring Mr Thakur as "Appa", the woman legislator said that he not only guided her but also helped her extensively during the 2019 polls.
The purpose of the meeting was to extend a note of gratitude towards "Appa" as well as get his wishes, Ms Jain said. Commenting on her win against BJP's sitting MLA Narendra Mehta, she stated that, "It wasn't against the party, the people have rejected the individual which is the main reason I got elected as an independent."
"People want a change in a person. I can't say about assurances but definitely the development works which are incomplete would be completed and I am confident of the same,"she added.
When asked would she rejoin the BJP, she answered that as of now she was busy expecting the greetings and would contemplate on the topic later.(UNI)
