Congress’ Vishwajeet Kadam retains Palus-Kadegaon by record margin

Sangli, Oct 25 : Congress candidate Vishwajeet Kadam has retained the Palus-Kadegaon constituency in the district with a huge margin of over 1.60 lakh votes over his nearest Shiv Sena rival Sanjay Vibhute in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on Thursday.

In a one-sided contest, Mr Kadam, former Youth Congress president and son of the late former minister Dr Patangrao Kadam, polled total 1,71,521 votes while his nearest rival Mr Vibhute got only 8,976 votes, who lost his deposit along with all other seven independents candidates.

The Congress candidate took lead in all 15 rounds of counting of votes. Mr Kadam has even broken record of his father late Dr Kadam, who was elected in 2004 assembly elections by 1.04 votes from the same constituency. (UNI)
