Six sitting MLA lose assembly polls in Thane

Thane, Oct 24 : The results of the Assembly polls in Thane district were not a surprise for both the contestants and the citizens as everyone knew the outcome due to the revolt in the parties.

Of the total 18 seats, the BJP bagged a maximum of 8 seats leaving 5 for the Sena. The MNS could manage only 1, NCP 2,and SP 1.

The sitting MLAs Narendra Mehta, of the BJP, Narendra Pawar the rebel BJP candidate, Rupesh Mhatre, of the Sena,and Jyoti Kalani, of the NCP, and Pandurang Barora, from Sahapur who switched to the Shiv Sena from NCP were defeated in the polls.

While Ganesh Naik, who was out of politics for a long time got elected from the Airoli constituency. Kumar Ailani, the former MLA from Ulhasnagar also got elected defeating the sitting MLA Jyoti Kalani.

The Murbad MLA Kisan Kathore, got elected with the maximum margin in the elections. The results of the other constituencies are In Bhiwandi-R- Sitting MLA Shantaram More of the SS defeated his nearest rival of the MNS by a margin of 44509, in Sahapur Daulat Daroda the former MLA and NCP nominee defeated his rival the sitting MLA Barora by a margin of 15104 votes, in the Bhiwandi west sitting MLA Mahesh Chowgule, of the BJP defeated his rival from Independent by a margin of 14912 votes. In Bhiwandi E, Rais Khan of the SP defeated the sitting MLA RupeshMhatre of the Shiv Sena by a margin of 1314 votes.

In Kalyan West Vishwanath Bhoir of the Shiv Sena defeated his rival the rebel BJP candidate an Independent by a margin of 22271 votes, Murbad the sitting MLA Kisan Kathore, defeated his rival Pramod Hindurao of the NCP by a margin of 136040.

The other winners were Ambernath,Balaji Kinnikar, SS sitting MLA, defeated his rival of the INC by a margin of 29294, Ulhasnagar Kumar Ailani of the BJP defeats his rival sitting MLA Jyoti Kalani of the NCP by a margin of 2004 votes, Kalyan E,Ganpat Gaikwad the sitting MLA of the BJP defeated the rival an independent by a margin of 12257, in Dombivili, sitting MLA and BJP Minister Ravindra Chavan defeated his rival MNS by a margin of 41311 votes, Kalyan Rural Pramod Patil of the MNS defeated his rival SS by a margin of 7154 votes, Mumbra Kausa the sitting MLA Jitendra Awhad of the NCP defeated his rival Deepali Sayyed of the Shiv Sena by a margin of 75639.

In Mira Bhayander the rebel BJP candidate Geeta Jain defeated the sitting MLA Narendra Mehta of BJP by a margin of 15526 votes, and in Owla Majiwada,the sitting MLA Pratap Sarnaik of the SS defeated his rival of the INC by a margin of 84008, in Kopri PanchPakhadi the sitting MLA and Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde defeated his rival a INC nominee by a margin of 89300.

In Thane sitting MLA Sanjay Kelkar of the BJP defeated his rival MNS candidate by a margin of 19424 and in Airoli Ganesh Naik of the BJP defeated his rival from NCP by a margin of 78491 and in the Belapur constituency the sitting MLA Manda Mhatre of the BJP defeated her rival of NCP by a margin of 43597.
