Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Oct 25 : The retreating monsoon rains lashed the Marathwada region for the seventh day on Friday affecting normal life and ruining kharif crops in the region.
Heavy to heavy rainfall was reported in Parbhani, Beed, Jalna, Nanded ,Hingoli and Aurangabad districts, an official rain bulletin said. Following downpour, the standing crops of kharif like maize ,cotton ,Pawar among others were damaged. Average 26.08 mm rainfall was recorded in eight districts during the past 24 hours.
Highest rainfall of 50.37 mm was recorded in Parbhani district followed by Beed 38.70 mm, Jalna district 33.45 mm, Nanded 25.56mm,Hingoli 21mm,Aurangabad 17.89 mm,Latur 16.01mm and Osmanabad 5.64 mm.
As per IMD data, the region's average is 779 mm and till date 719 mm rainfall was recorded, which is 93 percent of expected rainfall and 92 pc of annual rainfall . The returning monsoon has lashed almost all the areas of the region. (UNI)
